French Cheese Paired with Sake

New York, NY (June 28, 2016) – Join Asian Women in Business (AWIB) for a special tasting and networking event. Our "French Cheese Paired with Sake" evening is on Monday June 11, 2016 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM  at The French Cheese Board, 41 Spring Street, New York, NYC.

Our sake ninja will lead a discussion on how the umami in cheese and sake creates a perfect marriage. Six cheeses have been selected and will be paired with 7 kinds of sake.

Featured Pairings:
  • Brie & Kinpou Odayaka Junmai Ginjo
A soft-ripened cheese from Seine-et-Marne, France complements the lemon-melon aromas and ripe golden apple and tart pear flavors of the sake.
  • Pont L'Eveque & Azuma Rishiki Junmai & Yukisuzume Junmai Ginjo
A rich, creamy soft cheese made near the coast of Normadie paired with a cave-aged charcoal-filtered sake with moderately fruity notes. It will also be paired with a balanced Yukisuzume Junmai to show the differences in the relationship between food and sake.
  • Emmental & Kan Nihonkai Ryoshizake Junmai Ginjo
A medium-hard cheese from Canton Bern, with a savory mild taste which will be paired with a robust and elegant sake.
  • Raclette & Kinryo Sanukiyiomai Junmai Ginjo
The mildly fragrant sake from Kagawa, Japan has a subtle palate sweetness that becomes livelier when accompanied with the saltiness of Raclette from Auvergne, France.
  • Mimolette & 110 Purple Yamahai Junmai Ginjo
The vibrant flavors of this dry Japanese sake complements the hearty Mimolette from Lilie, France.
  • Fourme D' Lambert & Sempuku Shinriki 85 Junmai
Like a ripe fruit, this sake from Hiroshima, Japan has complex rich flavors of sweet and sour which pairs nicely with the earthy and velvety blue cheese from Auvergne, France.
