Raising the Bar 2013

Raising the Bar and Tearing Down Barriers:

Asian Women Prosecutors and the Pursuit of Justice

April 11, 2013

AWIB's third Annual Raising the Bar forum featured prominent Asian women

prosecutors. Every year, AWIB highlights Asian women legal professionals, and in 2013, we delved

into the lives of prosecutors who make life-changing decisions every day to protect the public

interest. Attendees had the unique opportunity to engage in a meaningful dialogue with a

notable panel, who offered their perspectives on a profession in which Asian women

are underrepresented. They discussed the challenges they faced due to their gender

and ethnicity, and how they overcame those challenges by bringing their own styles and skills to

a stereotypically "macho" profession. Now, at the management level, these women are paving the

way for the next generation of Asian American prosecutors as their role models and mentors.
