Jeannie Park is an executive editor of People Magazine and one of the highest-ranking Asian-American editors in the magazine industry.

Born and raised in Ohio, she graduated from Harvard with a degree in biochemistry. In 1985, she moved to New York to begin working as a reporter-researcher for Time magazine. While there, she wrote entertainment-related stories for various other publications, including The New York Times. She then moved to People magazine in 1989, where she worked as a writer and editor for three years. She spent several months in Sydney, Australia, as part of the People team that created test versions of the magazine’s Australian edition.

In 1992,she joined Entertainment Weekly as senior editor of the magazine’s television coverage and was promoted to assistant managing editor in 1995; she also edited EW’s first book, The Entertainment Weekly Seinfeld Companion. She has been a leader in diversity efforts at Time Inc. and is a founding member of A3, the company’s affinity group for Asian-American staffers.


Among her proudest accomplishments is serving as the founding president of the 15-year old New York chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), which is now the largest in the country. She has also held a number of other national and local board positions with AAJA and is currently a facilitator for its Executive Leadership Program. She has received numerous honors for her diversity commitment and achievements, including from the national AAJA, the Korean American Alliance, the Asian American Federation of New York and the Asian Professional Extension.


She lives in Manhattan with her husband, David Chan, and their two children, who keep her busier than she ever imagined possible!
