Cynthia immigrated to the U.S. with her parents and 2 sisters as an 8 year-old. The family settled in Marrietta, GA and were one of only a handful of Asian American families in the community. After moving to New York and graduating with a degree in marketing, Cynthia started her marketing career at KPMG.
Offered an opportunity at Kang & Lee in 1989 to do Asian targeted advertising, what she thought would be a short term assignment, became her career. Over the last 15 years, she has played a played a critical role in shaping the growth of the company. She oversees account management, creative and media departments and has helped the agency become a leader in multicultural marketing.
Her advice to Asian women climbing the corporate ladder is to have a strong sense of focus, determination and self-worth - traits that will allow women to pursue their goals and be valued within their organizations.
Cynthia has also made time to share her knowledge and experience - she has taught at New York University and is an active member of the Direct Marketing Association and the Asian American Advertising Federation. She is also a member of the Diversity Achievement and Mosaic Awards Committee of the American Advertising Federation.
