Minority/Women Business Enterprises Certification: 
Open Doors to New Business Opportunities


New York, NY (March 23, 2009) - Asian Women In Business (AWIB) and the Office of Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer will hold a workshop on Minority and Women Business Enterprises (M/WBE) Certification for minority owned businesses. This workshop will walk participants through the requirements for becoming certified to contract with New York City government and teach attendees how to leverage certification to grow their businesses.

New York City buys $16.5 billion worth of products and services every year. Business owners will learn how to increase their ability to compete successfully in contracting opportunities so they can get a piece of the action. The downturn in our current economy is adversely affecting businesses; the workshop is designed to assist Minority business owners (women and men) looking for new avenues to sell their products/services. 

Asian Women In Business ( is the only nonprofit organization in the country with the primary mission of assisting Asian women entrepreneurs. Over the years, AWIB has expanded its mission to address issues affecting the business and professional development of Asian women. AWIB sponsors conferences, workshops and seminars on a variety of business topics and holds frequent networking activities to enable members to make important business contacts.
